Ccaps Engineering at a Glance

Ccaps Translation and Localization is internationally recognized for the quality of its work and the use of state-of-the-art technology. The Ccaps engineering team focuses on streamlining the production process either by improving translation quality through the development and management of glossaries and translation memory or by researching new technologies that allow for faster and more reliable output.

Ccaps software engineers, Márcio Serrano Tavares and Ricardo Alves Júnior have over four years experience in the localization industry. During this time, they gained expertise in various platforms (such as Macintosh, Linux, Solaris and Unix), web-based and desktop software programs, CAT tools, multilanguage text layout and complex scripts. According to Alves, “it is very rewarding to work for a company that is never content with the status quo. Researching more efficient processes and systems is as much a part of our job as our daily activities.” At Ccaps, engineering activities encompass a wide range of tasks, including file preparation and conversion, help and software compilation, quality assurance (QA) and testing.

Besides their daily activities, the engineers assist all Ccaps professionals with the different translation tools, providing guidance as to the most efficient devices for a specific localization project. Often times, in order to automate repetitive and time-consuming processes, Ccaps engineers develop custom macros or programs to support the completion of a specific task. “The background and concerns of translators, reviewers, localizers and project managers is very different than our own. We are pleased to see how our knowledge can improve the productivity of their work and the final results for the client,” says Tavares.
