Letter from the Editor

Welcome to the Ccaps Newsletter!

On September 30th, we celebrated Translator's Day. On behalf of the entire Ccaps team, Sarah Hyde has written a festive piece to congratulate our colleagues, complete with testimonials from industry veterans. For all you translators, Ccaps has prepared a little surprise: It is our way of saying “Thank you” for all your hard work and dedication.

The big news this month is that Ricardo Alves, Ccaps’ Software Engineer, was invited to participate in the Transdex and 26th Internationalization and Unicode Conference, which took place from September 7-10 in San Jose, California. He was contacted by the conference organizers to serve as a conference mediator for two translation tools discussion panels. Unable to attend in person, Ricardo sent his contribution in the form of four questions for the debaters, and has developed these questions in an article created especially for this month’s edition.

Finally, as a tribute to translators, we are launching a new column in the Ccaps Newsletter: the Translation Tip. Within it, you will find interesting ideas on how to improve the quality of your work and refine your professional skills. Even though we deal with punctuation in both texts, the tips for Portuguese and English are different – all you have to do is to choose your (language) pair.

To learn more about Ccaps, feel free to email us at newsletter@ccaps.net or visit our website at www.ccaps.net. Suggestions and comments about the Ccaps Newsletter are always welcome!

Thank you for reading… and HAPPY TRANSLATOR’S DAY!
