Letter from the Editor

Welcome to the August 2004 Ccaps Newsletter!

My name is Fabiana Júlio and I am the new Ccaps Marketing Coordinator. From now on, I will be editing the Ccaps Newsletter. But do not worry, the former Coordinator, Sarah Hyde, is just fine. She was recently promoted to Project Manager and will now be dedicating her full time to this position. I hope I can continue the excellent work that she has been doing.

In addition to editing the newsletter and the advertising work, I will also be reviewing and updating the production support systems, using my experience and educational background in Liberal Arts with a specialization in Literature. On a personal note, I also enjoy sunny days (how lucky I am to live in Rio de Janeiro) and am totally in love with my cat Virginia Woolf.

The feature of this edition is an enlightening article by translators Vera and Danilo Nogueira. In this piece, the Nogueiras get the world of translation out of their system in a humorous and light-hearted way. Something that we can all use!

Also included in this month’s newsletter is an article on Ccaps’ participation in the Localization World Conference, which took place in Bonn, Germany. The event was supported by the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA), of which Ccaps is a proud member. Our director, Marco Simões, attended the event and shares his impressions with us in this article.

Finally, completing a two-part series, Ccaps engineer Ricardo Alves Junior continues to share helpful tips on website localization, with a description of the different types of websites and how these differences affect the localization process.

Your comments and suggestions for the Ccaps Newsletter are highly appreciated. Feel free to contact us at newsletter@ccaps.net

Thank you for reading!
