The Brave New Localization World

Ccaps Translation and Localization took part in the Localization World Conference in Germany’s old capital, Bonn. The conference took place between June 29 and July 1, gathering top localization companies and industry players from all over the world. According to Ccaps’ Strategic Director, Marco Simões, the event was an excellent opportunity to network with international clients and partners. “Ccaps’ participation in the conference reflects our growing global reach” said Simões. “The opportunity to meet clients and business partners in person and live is key to continuing the expansion of our company.”

The first Localization World occurred in Seattle in November 2003 and achieved similar success. This latest version of the event was organized by the Wisconsin-based Localization Institute and Multilingual Computing, the information source for the localization, internationalization, translation and language technology industry. “Fellow professionals from Brazil and Argentina joined over 300 attendees from 35 countries, including Japan, New Zealand, Germany and the United States to discuss common interests and to increase their awareness of available technology and services,” said Donna Parrish, Multilingual’s Editor-in-Chief. “It was exciting to discuss common interests with people from all over the world!”

The theme of the Conference, “Beyond Globalization. From Product Localization to Knowledge Sharing” was debated and discussed by industry experts and professionals during the two-day event, which also included workshops and networking sessions. The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) supported the Conference and organized a series of events, which included a pre-conference dinner, a semi-annual member meeting and a roundtable for vendors. Simões participated actively in the GALA events and praised the roundtable, which involved five localization entrepreneurs from different parts of the world (the USA, Czech Republic, UK, France and China). “The roundtable was a great information-exchange session. The speakers shared their views on how to improve the industry and pushed the audience to speak about their experiences too,” said Simões. “It is due to opportunities like these that Ccaps is an enthusiastic GALA member.”
